Men's Club

The St. Augustine High School Men's Club was designed to connect our young men to positive male role models on a consistent basis. Our students are motivated through group activities relating to spirituality, career paths, life skills, and social interaction. They are taken out of a formal classroom setting so that transparency and honesty can take place. Great emphasis is placed on analytical and critical thinking.

The Men's Club hosts a two day "Rap Session" every semester with the entire student body in order to discuss pertinent issues. This year's session was titled "How to Correspond with Law Enforcement." As the club expands, topics such as "Health & Hygiene" and "Money & Banking" will be included.

The Club also sponsors a three part Career Development Program that works with students starting in  their junior year through their senior year.

Part 1 - Career Day for Juniors - "Career Personality Assessment"

(Spring)
At the beginning of the semester, every junior is given a Career Personality Assessment Survey which guides him into an initial direction of career planning. The results are revealed and discussed a few weeks later during a one day seminar. This event also includes a presentation from a motivational speaker assigned by Job One of New Orleans.

Part 2 - Career Day for Seniors - "College Day"

(Fall)
During this event seniors are introduced to local college representatives who discuss administrative requirements, financial aid, college life, etc. We also invite representatives from various college organizations (fraternities, ROTC, etc) as well as St. Aug Alumni that are in college.

Part 3 - Career Day for Seniors - "Meet the Professionals"

Professionals from a variety of career fields are invited to have active conversions regarding each student's top three career interests. The students have an opportunity to establish a rapport with local professionals who in most cases are St. Aug Alumni.
